In mid-July we’re implementing 11gR1 (22.214.171.124) into production for several large high profile databases. 11g has lots of great features, but the posts for the first few weeks will primarily be devoted to things every DBA needs to know upgrade or support a newly upgraded 11g database. These first 10g databases (10.2.0.4) are fairly vanilla – measured in Ts and using standard features like partitioning, materialized views, and bitmap indexes along with some old standbys like VPD security and the resource manager that are not as well known. It’s going to be fun!
